Presentation of the
kit (from Retrokit)
Amongst the many brain waves that emanated from the 16th century genius
Leonardo Da Vinci is a fairly sound concept for an armoured fighting
vehicle. A few sketches show us a cone-shaped vehicle, possibly built
from wood, featuring a separate top section - a kind of primitive
turret- that coul presumably be moved up and down to increase vision,
aim and fire weapons or increase protection. A system of human-powered
cranks and wheels power the vehicle and there appear to have a number of
openings on the lower part of the hull to aim and fire weaponry.
Although Da Vinci's tank was, as far as we know, never built, it remains
a major breakthrough in military thinking and design.
Mathilde's building of the kit (Mathilde is 9 years old)
the kit was built on one week.
Sunday 04/03/2007: dad's work: preparation of the pieces (sanding and
washing). A default asked to be heavily sanded. As we know that resin
dust can possibly be harmful, I refused that Mathilde made that work...
All what follows is the effective work of Mathilde.
Monday 05/03/2007: airbrushing of white primer
Thuesday 06/03/2007: airbrushing of Vallejo Wood
Wednesday 07/03/2007: drybrushing of Vallejo Woodgrain
Thursday 08/03/2007: painting of the guns (Citadel Colors Boltgun Metal)
and all the metallic parts (Citadel Colors Mithril Silver). Beginning of
the work on the base.
Friday 09/03/2007: oil wash on the kit; drybrush of different yellow,
green, brown paints on the base; PVC gluing and grass application.
Saturday 10/03/2007: Mathilde entered in contest (junior category) at
the Flander's Model Expo at Hoboken and won Gold.
