Added 6/5/2007 Scale Link's 32nd FT-17.

This kit went together very easily (compared to the Mark IV kit) and the quality of casting was superb.
The complete interior is included in the kit. I enjoyed the added bonus of having to assemble and paint the inside before I could close everything up.Very little extra work was needed on this kit. I added the following details…Added a total of nine (9) missing rivets (three diagonally in the front of each sponson unit and 3 on the rear of the turret hatch). Drilled out the four (4) holes on each track shoe. This kit was painted entirely by hand with Humbrol Enamels and weathered with oils. Mud and leaf matter were from Hudson & Allen Studio products

Added 27/4/2007 Scale Link 1/32nd British Mark IV tank.

This is the Scale Link 1/32nd scale model of the British Mark IV tank from World War One. The kit is made completely of white metal and photo-etched brass. While there are other Mark IV kits on the market (and much cheaper in cost), Scale Link’s rendition in my opinion is closest to the real vehicle in shape and feel. However, there is quite a bit of work required to clean and complete this kit. I will be making another one with the separate female conversion kit (armed only with machine guns) as a vehicle captured and put back into service by the Germans.

Here are some of the modifications and corrections I made to the kit:

Corrected the kit’s un-ditching beam configuration. The supports on the roof need to be moved forward one full panel. The beams themselves need to have the same amount removed from the front half and added to the rear half. Very easy to do – and corrects the only inaccurate part of the kit.
Made a new un-ditching beam from balsa wood and added details cut from the metal kit parts.
Replaced missing and poorly cast rivets throughout the model. Rivets were taken from the inside of each part. Originally, Scale Link planned a separate full interior set for this kit but it was never released - hence the rivet detail on the inside.
Front visors were modified by making top flaps separate. Used a hobby blade to score around smaller visor and filled in resulting void with plastic with vision slot cut out. New springs added from fine wire.
Added thread onto exhaust to replicate asbestos wrapping near roof hatch.
Added tubes inside Lewis guns to replicate gun barrels.
Model was painted in Humbrol enamels with black/brown oil paint washes. Kit decals were used and worked well with Solvoset decal wetting solution. Mud was created by using Hudson and Allen Studio mud and applying two layers. First was mud and water to represent dried mud. Second coat had gloss added to the mixture to represent fresh wet mud. Try not to add too much mud to my models as I don’t like to cover up detail.
