Added 13/10/2008  Revell "Spitsfire" featuring Flight Lft Rif Raf.

This is the Revell "Spitsfire" featuring Flight Lft Rif Raf at the controls. Its a fantasy/caricature kit which is perfect for relieving AMS. Built strictly OOB, all decals are from the kit. Painted in MM British colours.

This is model #37 for the year. Now where is my Messaschnitzel???

Added 17/08/2008  Academy Tempest V in 1/72 scale.

This is the Academy Tempest V in 1/72 scale. Built OOB with added foil seatbelts. Construction was straight forward and took place simultaneously with construction of the Hurricane. Three days were spent on this project.

Added 12/07/2008 Italeri 17/72nd UH-1 "Huey".

This is the Italeri UH-1 "Huey".  I bought this kit at the region 4 contest in Cleveland Ohio.
This is my second helicopter kit, and quite a challenge to get together.  All decals are from the kit, which was built strictly OOB, and painted with MM "Helo" drab. It resides in my "Nam" cabinet.

Added 20/06/2008 Academy 1/72 Hurricane IIc.

This is the Academy 1/72 Hurricane. Built OOB with added foil sealtbelts and .005 Ethicon stainless antenna wire.
Built as a night fighter per the kits instructions.

Added 14/05/2008 FROG Hurricane in 1/72.

This is the FROG Hurricane in 1/72. The kit was a gift from a fellow modeller.
I believe it was sent as a challenge or a very sick joke.
The kit has to be at least 30 years old. However, the fit was as good as any of today's Tamigawa kits.
The overstated surface detail was removed, and using an Academy kit as a guide, panel lines were scribed and construction completed in 2 1/2 days. The l/g doors were replaced with .015 plastic card. Actually it was a joy to build, and will make some child a nice gift.

Added 31/03/2008 Airfix Fairey Battle in 1/72.

This is the ancient Airfix Fairey Battle. This kit had been languishing on my shelf for nearly ten years. On a dare (to myself) I attempted building it. Crude at best, the first order of the day was to remove all the "bridge" rivets, and scribe some panel lines.
The interior is nearly non-existant, so a bit of help was needed in that department. Other than a Yellow target tug scheme it seems that most were finished in the brown/green scheme. The ailerons have been replaced with sheet stock.

Added 28/01/2008 Hasegawa Mosquito Mk IV in 1/72.

This is # 9 for the month of January. My New Year resolution is paying off. "Finish the started kits".

This is the Hasegawa Mosquito Mk IV in 1/72. Built OOB with added seatbelts. National markings are aftermarket, and the codes are from the kit. The model was completed in three days having only had the interior completed before construction started. My only complaint with this kits is the two piece canopy. What were they thinking...or were they??

Added 25/12/2007 Fujimi A4C kit in 1/72 scale.

This is the Fujimi A4C kit in 1/72 scale. The model was built OOB and finished using Model Master (FS 36440) Flat Gull Gray over gloss white. The Squadron insignia lightning bolts were painted using Tamiya orange. The decal sheet has them depicted as red. This is totally wrong. This squadron (VA-144) served onboard the USS Constellation on our first cruise to Viet Nam in 1964. I had the honor of serving on board at the same time as this squadron.

The model now resides in the "Constellation Cabinet" along side other aircraft that served with my ship in Viet Nam.

Added 9/12/2007 P51s in 1/72 scale.

Added 5/12/2007 Hurricanes in 1/72 scale.

Knew I should not have asked Bill if he had any Hurricane builds. I mean it was a stupid question when he sent me these photos. Should just said send me photos of Hurricanes you have built. ;-)

"First one is Academy and second one Hasegawa Hurricane from years ago."

Added 30/11/2007 Spitfires in 1/72 scale.

I asked Bill if he was going to build any early Spitfires. His reply was these photos. :-)

Added 29/11/2007 Spitfires in 1/72 scale.

This is the 1/72 Tamiya Spitfire Mk VB (trop) kit. It was built OOB.

This is the Fujimi 1/72 Spitfire Mk XIVC. The kit was purchased at the Cleveland show/contest on Nov 4.

The model was built OOB with leadfoil seatbelts added.

Special thanks to Ken Henderson for the correct color information.

This is the 1/72 Hasegawa Spitfire Mk VIII. This scheme was flown in Sicily in 1944 according the the instruction sheet.
The model was built OOB with lead foil seatbelts added. The wing tip decals were scrapped and painted in stead.
Alclad II was used for the NMF finish.

Added 06/09/2007 Tamyia F4U 1D Corsair  kit in 1/72 scale.

This is the Tamiya 1/72 F4U 1D. Typical no fuss no muss Tamiya kit. No putty required. Decals were a bit thick, but quite usable. Nothing but Ethicon stainless added as the antenna wire. Kit is OOB. Total time spent for construction less than 10 hours
It now sits next to the 1/32 version
.

Added 29/07/2007 21st Century Toys  F4U Corsair  kit in 1/32 scale.

This is the 21st Century Toys F4U Corsair built OOB with added lead foil seatbelts and shoulder harness. Construction took about four days. All decals are from the kit.

Added 27/04/2007 21st Century Toys F4u1A/D kit in 1/32 scale.

This is the 21st Century Toys F4u1A/D kit in 1/32 scale. Built basically OOB with added foil seatbelts and shoulderharness, and a second antenna was also added. This detail was overlooked by the manufacturer.

Painted with Tamiya and Model Master paints. Weathered with oil paint, pastel chalk, and a Berol silver pencil. All decals are from the box. Construction took about one week.

Added 24/12/2006. 1/72 Hasegawa P38 J/L build.

This is the 1/72 Hasegawa P38 J/L kit. Seeing as this will be the last kit I build this year,
I wanted something simple. This generic P38 fit the bill. It is finished in Model Master O.D.
over Dark Gull Gray (same as neutral gray to my eye). Lead foil seatbelts were added as well as syringe needles
substituted for the kit m/gs. A set of squashed resin wheels came in the kit.
I had to use them as the kits wheels were missing. Ethicon .006 stainless was used for the antenna wire.
All decals are from the kit
except the "48" on the tail. This is #27 for the year.

Added 18/03/2006 1/72 Encore/ Cap Croix Du Sud Mig 3z.

This is the Encore/ Cap Croix Du Sud Mig 3z.
Highly inaccurate but fun to build none-the-less.
The wheel wells were cut out and detailed.
The True Details resin interior was used as were
the kit's national markings. This project took about four days.

Added 28/02/2006 Matchbox 72nd Vickers Wellesley.

This is the Matchbox Vickers Wellesley.
It was built OOB with added lead foil seatbelts. All markings are from the kit decal sheet. This project took five days.

1/72 scale Airfix Mosquito Night Fighter

I pirated the night version's decals out of the Tamiya kit, so that's covered, and
I had extra Super Scale national markings for  the tops of the wings.
Several parts from the Tamiya kit were used to convert this kit to an "NF".
Wing tip antennae are .017 guitar string.

Revell of Germany 1/72nd Corsair

A gift from a friend. An easy kit to build. Finished in five days.

1/72 Airfix Boomerangs..

These are 1/72 Airfix kits. All rivets were removed, and the wings and tail planes were
re-scribed. Interiors were scratched with help from photos.
